Super Cute Giveaway on Takin' Time to Smell the Flowers

April, over at Takin' Time to Smell the Flowers has one of the cutest Etsy shops I've seen.  Really cool, "junk" finds that she has turned into wonderful decorations for your home, inside and out.  My idea of front porch friendly!
Shabby chic at its best, there is something for everyone.  I love how original everything is and doesn't at all fit a stuffy vintage look, she has a very fresh approach to the things she creates.
Her chalkboard details and feminine touches combined with the masculine metals are really intriguing.
This particular giveaway is for what she calls a "snack pack".  She is giving away an Etsy sampler of her items she offers.  Very funky and cute and I love that she's created treasures from what some might have considered junk before.  Hop on over to her blog and sign up for the giveaway!!! Good luck.....but I must say, I really hope I win. ;)

Kaleidoscope book review

Kaleidoscope is an excellent book for Christian women.  Patsy Clairmont is a funny and uplifting woman, part of the original Women of Faith, she in tuned to her audience.  Most women whether mom or not has the same issues mentioned in this book. She uses the book of Proverbs to help women understand things that might cause major upheaval in their lives.  From fear to anxiety, she touches on it all.  Never one, to dwell in self pity she teaches women how to grow and learn from experiences and move on in their lives the way God intended.
I have heard of many Proverbs studies for women that sounded a bit too "barbaric" for me.  This is an exception.  Clairmont empowers women with an understanding of why we do the things we do and what we can do to improve the things we are not so crazy about.
This an easy read but something Bible study group would find enjoyable and easy to relate to.

Outlive Your Life book review

I have always enjoyed reading Max Lucado, my favorite still being The Savior Next Door.  It seems that he is the most readable Christian author out there at the moment.  He is always effortlessly funny and is excellent at providing scripture in a way that you can use it in your daily life.  In Outlive Your Life, he examines the book of Acts.  He immediately pulls you into his books with his "imagine this" scenarios.  I enjoy this because I think we are all so stuck in the moment that we tend to forget why we were put on this Earth.
God has commanded us to do many things and we like to still live the way we do and give little snippets of time to Him when we can.  Lucado brilliantly highlights this in his book along with advice and help through scripture to get you where you need to be in your life. I read the book Radical right before this one, which was a mistake.  I loved Radical so much because it is a huge slap in the face and brings you to the reality that he has set in front of us.  I would have probably liked Outlive Your Life better if I would've read it before Radical.  This was a little sweet for my taste.  I am in that point though in my relationship with God that i yearn for deeper and more "in your face" realities.  With Max Lucado you know you are not getting that type of knock to the soul but it is uplifting none the less.
I would recommend this book to Christians of most any age, especially ones who want to delve into the books of the Bible a little deeper.  That is probably my favorite part of this book overall.  I want to learn so much more about each book of the Bible and this was a nice intro to that.
